       Song Ke (宋克, 1327-1387) was a famous calligrapher of the early Ming Dynasty. He was a native of Changzhou (長洲, in today’s Suzhou, Jiangsu Province). His courtesy name was Zhongwen (仲溫), and pseudonym Nan Gong Sheng (南宮生).

       Song Ke was bold in blazing new trails in the art of calligraphy. He was particularly noted for his cursive calligraphy, in which he developed his unique style by combining elements from different cursive types.
