A significant portion of the items in various art galleries are from the Palace Museum in Beijing and the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
Some artworks are from Shanghai Museum, National Art Museum of China in Beijing, Chinese Culture University Hwa Kang Museum in Taipei, Princeton University Art Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Tokyo National Museum and Osaka Municipal Museum of Art.
ChinaOnlineMuseum.com was officially launched on Mar 21, 2009. Its objective is to provide a general introduction to China and Chinese culture. At the moment, effort is devoted to the Art section of the site. The first two art forms on the agenda are Chinese Calligraphy and Painting. Eventually we aim to build various galleries to display different kinds of artworks throughout Chinese history.
