Huang Gongwang (黃公望, 1269-1354) was a painter of the Yuan Dynasty. He is the oldest of the "Four Great Masters of the Yuan (元四家)." After serving as local officials he pursued Taoism. His most well-known pseudonym is Dachi Daoren (大痴道人, A Silly Taoist).

In art he rejected the landscape conventions of his era, but is regarded as one of the greatest literati painters. Huang spent most of his later years in retirement in the Fuchun Mountains, which he recorded in a long hand scroll produced over a three-year period (1347–50). He is known also for his accomplishments in literary arts and thus is listed among the paragons of the “literati painting” ideal. His style of and attitude toward landscape painting stand at a pivotal midpoint between such ancient masters as Dong Yuan (董源) in the Five Dynasties period and Shen Zhou (沈周), Dong Qichang (董其昌) and others of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
